Paul De Geyter – Behind the scenes with a Rider Agent

The Cycling Podcast presents Life in the Peloton

Ever wondered how pro cycling contracts are negotiated and signed? Or why riders of certain nationalities only go to certain teams?

This week on The Cycling Podcast I chat with my old Rider Agent, Paul De Geyter, who was the first to introduce rider managers into the sport of cycling back in the early days.

He’s managed the likes of Tom Boonen and Robbie McEwen among many other big names. He stepped away from management several years ago and became General Manager of Lotto Soudal for a year before heading into retirement.

It was great to chat about how it all goes down behind the scenes of the negotiations and hear some of his tricks of the trade.

I hope you enjoy the insight, it was great to have Paul speak so openly and share the ins and outs from the other side of the table.

Stay tuned for our episode of Talking Luft next week!

Cheers, Mitch
